Window Glass Repair
Cut here, fitted here, in the frame you already own
Cracked panes, fogged sealed units, broken louver blades and failed glazing. In almost every case the glass comes out and new glass goes in, leaving the window, the frame and the wall exactly where they are.

What is actually sitting in your window frame
Which kind of glass you have decides whether this is a same-week job or a shipped-in one.
The simplest case, and a very common one here, is a single sheet of annealed glass held by beads or putty. It cracks, it comes out, new glass is cut to size and goes in. Jalousie louvers are a variation on the same idea: individual blades cut to length and dropped into their clips.
Many newer windows hold an insulated glass unit — two panes bonded around a spacer with a sealed cavity between them. That unit is a manufactured item in its own right and is replaceable inside your existing sash. When people say a window has fogged, this is what happened: the perimeter seal failed and moisture entered the cavity. The glass cannot be cleaned and it will not clear, but nothing about the frame is wrong.
There is one Hawaii-specific point worth making. Glass that can be cut locally — single pane, louvers, tempered sheets made to order — is far quicker and cheaper to deal with than anything that has to be manufactured on the mainland and shipped. Knowing which category your window falls into is the difference between a few days and a few weeks, and it is one of the first things we will tell you.
Where safety glazing is required — beside doors, at low sill heights, in bathrooms and in large panes — we supply tempered glass rather than whatever is quickest to source.
The glass is replaceable. The window does not have to be
This is the most useful thing to know before anyone quotes you. A sash is designed to let its glass be removed and renewed, and that is as true of a jalousie blade as it is of a picture window.
Replacement window companies rarely lead with it, because the glass job is worth a fraction of the window job — and in Hawaii, where a replacement unit carries freight on top of everything else, that gap is wider than on the mainland.
The honest exception is a frame that has corroded through, which does happen on exposed oceanfront elevations after enough decades. When it does, we will say so plainly rather than glaze a frame that cannot hold glass.
Glass we can cut here takes days. Glass that has to be made on the mainland takes weeks. We will tell you which you have.

Glass problems we deal with
Assessed on site, with a straight answer on whether it needs doing at all.
Cracked and broken panes
Individual panes replaced, cut to size locally wherever the glass type allows.
Fogged sealed units
Failed insulated units replaced inside your existing sash. The haze never clears on its own.
Glass louver blades
Jalousie blades cut to size in clear, obscure or tinted glass and matched to the rest of the bank.
Tempered and safety glazing
Correct glass where code requires it, particularly near doors and at low sills.
Glazing beads and putty
Loose beads refitted and failed putty raked out and reglazed on older sash.
Frame and sash assessment
An honest view on whether the surrounding frame is still sound enough to hold new glass.
The problems Hawaii glass has
Salt at the edges, UV on the face, and an ocean between you and the factory.
Salt attacks the edges and the spacer
An insulated unit fails from its perimeter inward, and the perimeter is exactly where salt-laden moisture collects and sits. On oceanfront and windward elevations, sealed units reach the end of their lives noticeably earlier than the same product on the mainland.
Tropical UV on the seals and coatings
Hawaii sits far enough south to take a serious ultraviolet load year-round. It degrades glazing beads, gaskets and sealants steadily, and once those let moisture into the rebate the glass edge is next.
Freight decides the timeline
Anything that has to be manufactured on the mainland and shipped adds weeks. Glass we can cut on-island does not. That single distinction shapes most of the advice we give about glass in this state.
Why reglaze rather than replace
Same result, a fraction of the cost, and far less waiting.
A fraction of the price
Glass replacement against a shipped-in replacement window is not a close comparison here.
Cut locally wherever possible
Which is the difference between a few days and a few weeks on an island.
No building work
No frames out, no wall disturbance, no repainting.
Correct glass specified
Including safety glazing wherever the location calls for it.
Three steps, no runaround

A clear shot of the damage and where it sits tells us the glazing method and the glass type.
We measure and quote
Glass is cut to the opening, so we measure on the first visit and tell you the realistic timeline.
We reglaze it

Glass repair questions
Can you cut glass here, or does it come from the mainland?
Single pane, louvers and standard tempered sizes are cut locally, which is quick. Specialist insulated units and coated glass may have to be made on the mainland, and we will tell you that up front rather than after you have committed.
Will a foggy window ever clear on its own?
No. The seal has failed and moisture is inside the unit. It may look better on dry days, but the insulating value is permanently gone.
Can you replace a single jalousie louver?
Yes, routinely. Blades are cut to size and matched to the rest of the bank in clear, obscure or tinted glass.
Is defogging a real fix?
It can improve appearance by drilling and venting the unit, but it does not restore the seal. We replace the unit instead, because that is the repair that holds.
My window frame looks corroded around the glass.
Worth having looked at. Sometimes it is surface corrosion and the frame is fine; sometimes the metal has gone through, in which case new glass will not hold. We will tell you which.
Other repairs we handle
Doors and windows are all we do, so whatever has failed, it is probably on this list.
